That infrastructure context is what this map is designed to show. Rather than focusing on a single project, the map places proposed expansions within the broader Northeast natural gas network. It shows the Marcellus and Utica shale plays alongside major interstate pipeline systems, including Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Transco, Millennium Pipeline, Iroquois Pipeline, and the Algonquin Gas Transmission system. Operational compressor stations and operational data centers help connect the transportation network with growing demand centers.
Several primary project sources point to renewed interest in incremental Northeast pipeline capacity. Enbridge’s AGT Enhancement would add 75 MMcf/d of capacity to the Algonquin Gas Transmission system. Williams’ Northeast Supply Enhancement would add about 400,000 dekatherms per day of capacity on the Transco system to serve New York markets. Williams’ Constitution Pipeline would provide up to 650,000 dekatherms per day of transportation capacity from Pennsylvania toward New York and New England. Enbridge’s Project Beacon is also shown as an Algonquin-system expansion concept, but its capacity should be verified against Enbridge’s open-season materials before final publication.
Viewed together, these projects show why the Northeast gas story is becoming a capacity story. The Marcellus and Utica remain major natural gas supply regions, but transportation constraints continue to shape how efficiently additional production can reach downstream power, utility, and industrial demand.
