Where Trace Is Expanding Gas Processing in the Northern Delaware Basin

Trace Midstream’s Apollo Gas Plant announcement points to a Northern Delaware Basin gas infrastructure story: gathering, compression, transportation, and processing are being combined into a more integrated midstream system across southeastern New Mexico.

Trace announced that it will construct the Apollo Gas Plant, a new 250 MMcf/d cryogenic natural gas processing facility in Eddy County, New Mexico. The company also plans to add 36 miles of new gathering pipelines and two new compressor stations, supported by multiple long-term contracts with new and existing customers. The Apollo Gas Plant is expected to be in service in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Trace says the new infrastructure will provide producers with a single integrated outlet spanning low-pressure gathering, compression, transportation, and natural gas processing. Once the Apollo-related projects are completed, Trace expects to operate more than 200 miles of pipelines, 14 compressor stations, and over 125,000 horsepower of compression. The company also says its system will be able to gather and transport more than 800 MMcf/d.

Rather than treating Apollo as a standalone plant, the map frames it as a system-expansion story. The plant site, pipelines, compressor stations, and nearby natural gas wells show how Trace is building processing capacity around an existing gas gathering and compression footprint in the Northern Delaware Basin.
