Comstock’s Legacy Haynesville Package Draws Market Interest

Comstock’s Legacy Haynesville Package Draws Market Interest

Comstock Resources is marketing ~38,000 net acres in the legacy Haynesville play across East Texas and Louisiana. The package, averaging ~150 MMcf/d from ~87% WI, could attract bids as consolidation accelerates among Appalachia and Haynesville operators.

Why It Matters

  • Portfolio realignment – Comstock is shifting capital to the higher-potential western Haynesville, while monetizing a slice of its legacy core in East Texas and Louisiana.

  • M&A opportunity – With ~150 MMcf/d of production tied to 38,000 acres, the divestiture offers scale for nearby operators looking to expand in the Haynesville.

  • Balance sheet focus – Proceeds would support debt reduction and free capital for growth in the western Haynesville, where Comstock controls over 520,000 acres.

What the Map Shows:
In Rextag DataLink, the map highlights:

  • Comstock’s legacy Haynesville acreage.

  • Offsetting operators such as Aethon Energy and Expand Energy, whose nearby positions make them logical suitors.

A Deeper Dive with DataLink:

  • Zoom into the Haynesville play boundary to locate Comstock’s legacy acreage.

  • Filter Acreages by operator (Comstock, Aethon, Expand, others) to compare competitive positions.

  • Add Wells (status: active) to see Comstock’s producing footprint.

  • Search for other midstream systems in the region to research route, diameter, and operator, and understand how takeaway access supports upstream divestitures.

By combining acreage and well layers, users can visualize where Comstock’s package sits within the Haynesville core and how it aligns with potential acquirers’ footprints.
