McLouth Gas Storage Field Docket No. CP12-285-000 OFFICE OF ENERGY PROJECTS REQUEST Question No. 1: Are the McLouth Sandstone and the Mississippian Limestone hydraulically connected? If so, does Southern Star store gas in both the McLouth Sandstone and the Mississippian Limestone? Are the storage injection/withdrawal (I/W) and observation wells at the McLouth Natural Gas Storage Field completed only in the McLouth Sandstone or the Mississippian Limestone as well? Generally, provide a more complete description of the active storage reservoir at the McLouth Gas Storage Field and the relationship between the McLouth Sandstone and the Mississippian Limestone. Response: To Southern Stars knowledge, the McLouth Sandstone and Mississippian Limestone formations are not hydraulically connected. Several of the storage injection/withdrawal wells in the McLouth Sandstone were hydraulically fractured in the early 1980s, but there is no evidence that this resulted in a hydraulic connection between the McLouth Sandstone and the ...
