MOELLER Westar Energy Inc. and its affiliate Kansas Gas and Electric Company (collectively, Westar) hereby provides their response to the request for evidence in the above captioned matter issued by Commissioner Philip D. Moeller on November 14, 2011.1 I. INTRODUCTION Westar is a vertically integrated electric utility, serving over 687,000 retail and over 75 wholesale customers in the State of Kansas. Westars energy centers generate more than 7,100 MW of electric power using uranium, coal, natural gas, landfill gas and wind as fuel sources. As a transmission-owning member of the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), Westar operates and coordinates approximately 35,000 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines.
